It is the largest town in the parish of Villapañada, one of the many parishes that make up the Grado council. Located on a slope facing south-east and being an obligatory pass of the Primitive Way, it is about two kilometres from the village of Grado. Acebedo or Acebeu, is a village whose hamlet is scattered by the slope distributed in districts like the one of El Cabayin or La Granda formed by hamlets like the one of La Barrera, El Cascayal, Ca Escuela... Although the area seems to have been uninhabited for a long period, this was not always the case, because very close to Acebedo an important lithic complex from the Lower or Middle Palaeolithic period has been located. In the district of La Granda, where today there is a house, was located the school to which the children of Acebedo and the surrounding villages went.
Acebedo is immersed in the typical Asturian landscape; meadows, hills and rows of chestnut trees dotted with quintanas and casares with their cattle, hórreos and bakeries. In the village you can see beautiful hórreos converted into houses. The old mill of La Fallada still wants to evoke its years of laborious grinding and La Fonte refuses to succumb among the undergrowth.
The nearby place of La Barraca was in other times the passage of pilgrims in their journey along the Primitive Way and it is known that there was a chapel dedicated to Santiago where a feast in honour of the Apostle was also celebrated.
El Regueiral is a river that rises to the north of the nearby village of La Llinar and delimiting with Acebedo flows into the river El Xorro that also borders the village. Acebedo, scarce of water and with few springs, enjoyed nevertheless of sources like the one of the Fontixa, the Regueiral or the Fonte. The river El Xorro moved the millstones of the Molino de La Fallada, where the corn and spelt were ground, in addition the river was used as a washing place where the women went with their laundry.
